Health caregivers project: an experience report

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to report the experience of the development of the Health Caregivers Project in quilombola communities, in the training of lay caregivers in the Health Caregivers Project, in the state of Maranhão. Methodology: This is an experience report about the development and evaluation of the project for the formation of lay caregivers. Result: cases of hypertension and diabetes were detected and monitored in the community by caregivers, weekly, and referred to the Family Health Strategy for drug intervention. Conclusion: Through this experience, we found that it is possible to train lay caregivers with this workload and developed content, to keep quilombola communities in care and monitoring, regarding hypertension, diabetes mellitus and metabolic syndrome.

Claudia Barbastefano Monteiro, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro

Graduação em Enfermagem pela Faculdade de Enfermagem Luiza de Marillac (1986), Habilitação em Enfermagem de Saúde Pública pela Faculdade de Enfermagem Luiza de Marillac (1987), Licenciatura pela Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (1995), pós-graduação lato sensu em Assistência ao Psicótico, pelo Instituto de Psiquiatria da UFRJ/IPUB (2000) e mestrado em Enfermagem pela Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (2004). Doutora em Ciências pela Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (2019). Servidora  do Instituto de Psiquiatria da Universidade do Brasil/UFRJ no cargo de enfermeira assistencial das enfermarias e  preceptora da Escola de Enfermagem Anna Nery e da Residência Multiprofissional do IPUB/UFRJ. Atualmente no Polo de assistência em saúde mental dos trabalhadores da UFRJ - SAPS.  Experiência na área de Enfermagem, com ênfase em Enfermagem Psiquiátrica, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: enfermagem, enfermagem psiquiátrica, psiquiatria, saúde pública, atenção à saúde mental e saúde do trabalhador.
