There is an association between spirituality and coping with chronic medical illness, will to live, reduced anxiety, depression, and improved quality of life. Through this review work, we intend to evaluate articles that address spirituality/religiosity in the quality of life of diabetic patients. This is because it is perceived that there are several strategies used to cope with diseases with evidence for religion and spirituality. Objective – To understand the interference and role of spirituality and religiosity in the quality of life and changes in the behavior of diabetic patients because of their involvement. Methodology - This integrative review was based on bibliographic, quantitative, qualitative, retrospective, and transversal techniques according to data from Scielo, Medline, Lilacs and PubMed using the descriptive terms: “spirituality”, “quality”, “quality of life” and “diabetic”. Several articles were consulted between April 9, 2022, and July 10, 2022. Results – After careful analysis of the articles in question, it was shown that the quality of life of diabetics is lower than that of non-diabetic patients. This occurs due to sadness, anxiety, concern, and fear about their future, especially in view of the change in lifestyle that the disease imposes on them. These patients must deal with physical changes and mental conflicts and are subject to impairment in their way of life. All this impels them to seek Spirituality.
