Necessary characteristics for publication in nursing journals: a scoping review

Abstract

Objective: to analyze the scientific evidence available in the literature on the characteristics necessary for the publication of articles in scientific journals in the nursing field. Methodology: scoping review, with the aim of answering following the question: What is the scientific evidence available in the literature about the necessary characteristics for the publication of articles in nursing journals? Studies available in full were included, which addressed scientific writing, related to the relevant characteristics for publication, without delimitation of language and time of publication. Nine search sources were used. Results: 6,286 articles were found. Of these, 68 were eligible, and 12 articles were included. Most studies addressed items such as title, abstract, introduction, method, results, conclusion, references and questions regarding the characteristics of the writing and language used. Conclusion: The quality of the article is directly related to the characteristics present in it, whether in relation to the writing itself, as well as good practices for carrying out the research.

Especialista em Enfermagem Perioperatória pelo Programa de Residência em Enfermagem da Universidade Estadual de Londrina (2018). Graduada em Enfermagem pela Universidade Estadual de Maringá (2015). Possui experiência na área de Enfermagem Perioperatória, com atuação em Centro Cirúrgico, Centro de Material Esterilizado e Sala de Recuperação Pós-Anestésica. Atua também na área de Qualidade em Enfermagem, com ênfase na gestão leitos e agenda cirúrgica. Membro do Grupo de Estudos em Gestão em Editoração Cientifíca e Saúde do Trabalhador (GeeST), da Universidade Estadual de Londrina.

Helenize Ferreira Lima Leachi, Universidade Estadual de Londrina

Specialist in Hospital Infection Control and Health Services from the State University of Londrina (2012). Master in Nursing from the State University of Londrina(2018). PhD in Nursing from the State University of Londrina. Professor of the Nursing course at the State University of Londrina (UEL). Professor of the Nursing Course at FACCREI. Alessandro Rolim Scholze, Universidade Estadual do Norte do Paraná

Graduated in Nursing from the State University of Northern Paraná (2014). Master's in Nursing from the State University of Londrina (Scholarship holder CAPES 2015-2016). PhD from the Public Health Nursing Program at the Ribeirão Preto College of Nursing - University of São Paulo (2019-2021). Member of the Worker's Health Studies Center at the State University of Londrina (NUESTUEL), Member of the Epidemiological-Operational Studies Group on Tuberculosis (GEOTB) and of the Research Group on Epidemiology, Health and Work (GESAT). She has experience in the field of Nursing, in the lines of worker health research; mental health with emphasis on the use of psychoactive substances and stress; vulnerable groups and infectious diseases tuberculosis. Currently collaborating professor at the Universidade Estadual do Norte do Pará (UENP).

Patricia Aroni, Universidade Estadual de Londrina

Graduated in Nursing from the State University of Londrina, Brazil (2010). Nurse Specialist in Surgical Center and Sterilized Material Center, by the Nursing Residency Program at the State University of Londrina, Brazil (2012). She worked as a nurse in the surgical center of the Cancer Hospital in Londrina, Paraná (2014). Professor at the Nursing Department at the State University of Londrina, in the area of ​​Surgical Center and Material and Sterilization Center (2014-2020) and in the area of ​​nursing management (2017-2020). PhD from the Graduate Program in Fundamental Nursing at the Ribeirão Preto School of Nursing - EERP/USP (2017). Member of the Center for Studies in Occupational Health at the State University of Londrina (NUESTUEL) and of the Center for Study and Research in Nursing Services Management (NEPGESE) at UEL. She has experience in teaching in higher education working at undergraduate and graduate levels and professional experience in the field of Nursing, with an emphasis on Nursing in Surgical Centers, Anesthetic Recovery Room and Material and Sterilization Center and Management of Nursing Services.

Master's in Health Sciences from the Federal University of São Paulo / Escola Paulista de Medicina (2003). She has experience in the area of ​​Nursing in Surgical Center and Central of Materials and Sterilization, with emphasis on Occupational Health, working mainly in Occupational Health. She holds a PhD from the Interunits Program at the University of São Paulo-Ribeirão Preto School of Nursing. Post-Doctorate at the University of São Paulo School of Nursing - Ribeirão Preto - SP.
