Acne is a multifactorial skin disease, with an easy clinical diagnosis, four factors responsible for the appearance of this aesthetic dysfunction are identified, such as sebaceous hypersecretion, follicular hyperkeratinization, bacterial colonization and, consequently, underlying follicular and dermal inflammation. Objectives: To analyze the treatment of acne vulgaris with the use of salicylic acid. It was characterized by an integrative review article search, in which the following scientific databases were used: Virtual Health Library (VHL), PubMed, and websites as auxiliary sources of consultation, in addition to books, theses and websites as auxiliary sources of research. Query. To obtain the results of this study, at first 20,025 scientific articles were found, 876 articles remained that served as the basis for this research. The sample of the results of this research comprised 7 scientific articles. We thus highlight the basic principles of treatments through deep skin hygiene being of great importance for acne control, thus preventing future damage to the patient's face, followed by the use of salicylic acid, it is concluded that, in the treatment of acne vulgaris, the salicylic acid is evidently effective, both the products that make up the substance and the procedures with direct use.
