The odontogenesis process requires a long period of time to complete, and during this period individuals may be faced with different situations in which they may suffer aggressions which may affect the development of the tooth and its supporting structures. Physical, chemical and/or biological aggressions during the different phases of odontogenesis lead to different consequences for the tooth, such as necrosis of the pulp tissue before the end of odontogenesis, leading to the need for endodontic treatment in a tooth with an open apex. For a long time, the apexification technique was used with the use of Calcium Hydroxide, however this had a series of disadvantages and later, the technique of choice became the making of an apical barrier with MTA, which brought advantages over the HC, the main one being the reduction of treatment time, and finally the most recent technique is pulp revascularization. This work aims to evaluate, through a narrative review of the literature, the effectiveness of regenerative endodontic therapy using the protocols established by the AAE. A review of the descriptive narrative literature about pulp revascularization therapy in immature permanent teeth was carried out. Scientific works available in online databases, available in Portuguese and English, were used as a bibliographic base, articles published between 2011 and 2022 were selected. At the end of this work, it is concluded that Revascularization is more promising when compared to other options.
