Osteomyelitis: a literature review

Osteomyelitis is an inflammatory disease of an acute or chronic nature that affects the bony structures, tending to engulf the bone marrow. The osteomyelite infection can evolve into a necrose of the bone, causing a disadvantage to occur in relation to the treatment, even with the performance of debridement, this persistence occurs without necrotic tissue. The work carried out has the objective of providing readers with a literary review on the topic of osteomyelitis, enabling students and health professionals to understand in a brief way what refers to the topic through discussions on the subject. My main point is to consider the relevance of radiology as a subject, explaining through images or a suggested topic, providing an update on the topic of osteomyelitis. In addition, it will provide clinical and epidemiological aspects of pathology, since it is a relevant incidence disease to be studied. This is a literature review of a narrative nature, carried out during the months of April and May 2023, based on database searches: Pubmed, Scielo, Google Scholar. Teve as use of keywords: osteomyelite, diagnostic osteomyelite, radiological osteomyelite. Acute osteomyelitis is an infection that mainly affects long bones due to the presence of increased blood flow, with a predominance around joelho. The beginning of its clinical presentations is non-specific, requiring medical help to define the diagnosis and treatment. With this, it is necessary to use complementary tests to evidence the main diagnosis.
