Obesity lights up an alert nowadays, which can be a public health problem of an epidemic nature, overloading the Unified Health System (SUS). It is a multifactorial risk disease for several pathologies, such as diabetes, hypertension, metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular, orthopedic and pulmonary problems. Its causes are related to a sedentary lifestyle, inadequate diet to nutritional status, genetics, behavioral problems and obesogenic environment. This work aimed to bring nutritional therapy in the treatment of obesity, such as the use of associated nutraceuticals. A literature review was carried out with articles published in the last 8 years. As a result, it was verified that the use of some nutraceuticals presented positive results, such as the improvement of the lipid profile, of inflammatory markers and reduction of the BMI. However, it is necessary to carry out more research, longer and with a broader public, since the research carried out was carried out in small samples and studies in a small space of time, presenting inconsistent results in weight loss and loss of fat mass itself, which prevents a better and more accurate analysis of the subject addressed, among several relevant variables.
