Abstract

The search for facial procedures for rejuvenation has become increasingly popular, both among women and men. However, it is important to be aware of the risks involved, such as complications that can lead to unwanted results. The most common procedures include filling with hyaluronic acid and application of botulinum toxin, which require specific care for the treated area. To avoid unwanted effects caused by invasive procedures, it is essential that specialists in orofacial harmonization have in-depth knowledge of the anatomy of the region. It is necessary that these professionals have precise manual skills and respect the limits of anatomy, aiming at harmonious and natural results for patients. Safety and concern for the patient's anatomy should be priorities in any orofacial harmonization procedure. The area of orofacial harmonization is constantly evolving, and it is essential that specialists seek to improve their knowledge through courses, specializations and scientific studies. In addition, it is necessary to invest in scientific research for the development of technologies that reduce adverse reactions to procedures. In this way, it will be possible to offer safer and more effective treatments, providing increasingly satisfactory results to patients. Thus, this narrative review of the literature aims to analyze the necessary care during the execution of HOF procedures, since topics such as areas of risk, anatomy of the nerves, veins, blood vessels, muscles and bones of the face are addressed.
