This research was carried out on the campus of Faculdade Integrada Carajás (FIC) located in the city of Redenção in the state of Pará, with students and employees of the educational institution. The objective of the research was to highlight the environmental and economic impacts involved in the extinction of disposable cups used by the FIC academic community. It is believed that the extinction of disposable cups in a higher education institution and the implementation of alternative and sustainable measures contribute to environmental balance and bring economic advantages to organizations. This is a descriptive exploratory research, with a quantitative and qualitative approach, through the on-site survey of research data and the creation of an awareness campaign. Therefore, after the campaign of awareness and total extinction of disposable cups by the educational institution, an important economy was verified, both from the financial / economic point of view, as well as from the environmental point of view. It is important to discuss environmental issues continuously and pertinently, thereby producing present knowledge that will generate preservation for future generations.
