Endodontics treatment aims to filling the root canal space, promoting maximum sealing of the root canal system. The endodontic sealer is responsible for promoting the sealing of the root canal system, thus avoiding micro-leakage and contamination by intrinsic or extrinsic agents. Sealers are considered satisfactory when they present a solubility lower than 3% of the mass fraction and without signs of disintegration. The objective of this work was to evaluate the solubility of endodontic sealers made up of different bases, with regard to their roughness and mass loss. For this, specimens with 3mm in diameter and 2mm in thickness were made of the following sealers: Endofill, MTA-Fillapex and Bio-C sealer. The samples were analyzed before and after solubilization in distilled water for weight loss and surface roughness. The results showed that the Bio-C sealer had a statistically higher solubilization rate when compared to the other, however within the values established by the ISO standard. There was also variation in surface roughness with increased roughness for Endofill and MTA-fillapex sealers and reduction for Bio-C sealer, which was statistically different from the others. We conclude that all tested sealer complied with ISO standards and the results suggest a correlation between solubility and roughness, and further studies are needed to confirm and better explain this correlation.
