Introduction: The aging of the population in Brazil has generated important challenges, especially in relation to violence against major people. The greater vulnerability and dependence of older people increases the risk of physical and psychological abuse and abandonment. Understanding these factors is essential to develop effective policies to prevent and protect the rights of greater people. In this context, this study aims to analyze mortality related to attacks against elderly people in Brazil and provide information for the development of public protection strategies for this population. Methodology: this is a study that uses secondary data from the Mortality Information System (SIM) to analyze the deaths of major people due to aggression in Brazil between 2000 and 2022, using descriptive statistical techniques to identify demographic and regional patrons. The analysis was carried out using anonymized and public domain data. Results: The study revealed that deaths due to external causes, including attacks, have a significant number in relation to the most frequent deaths in this population (neoplasias and diseases of the circulatory system). Regional disparities were also observed: the majority of deaths due to attacks occurred in the southeast. The men, the elderly, the mixed race and the people with a low educational level were the most affected, leaving their homes and the most common place for these deaths. Conclusion: therefore, the need for multifaceted strategies to combat violence against major people is emphasized, addressing individual, social and educational factors, as well as improving notification and case registration systems for more effective policies.
