Proceso de secado de materiales cerámicos arcillosos: una revisión

Resumen

El secado es una operación de transferencia de calor y masa que implica la eliminación de la humedad, siendo un paso importante y costoso en el proceso de fabricación de varios productos. Para los materiales cerámicos, el proceso de secado es necesario para eliminar el agua que se agregó a la arcilla en el paso de moldeo y para proporcionar la resistencia necesaria para reducir las posibilidades de falla durante el paso de quemado del producto. El control del proceso de secado es fundamental para reducir defectos en el material, pérdida de productividad y consumo energético. Por su importancia, este trabajo tiene como objetivo presentar una revisión de varios temas relacionados con el secado de materiales cerámicos. Aquí se discuten diferentes aspectos, tales como: los fundamentos, cinética de remoción de humedad, defectos, control y optimización del proceso de secado, con énfasis en productos arcillosos. La idea es otorgar subsidios para que investigadores e industriales puedan mejorar sus conocimientos y tomar decisiones adecuadas sobre este tema de gran importancia para la economía del país.
