Uso de Cannabis para el tratamiento del dolor crónico: una revisión sistemática

Resumen

Este estudio tiene como objetivo evaluar el uso del Cannabis medicinal para el manejo del dolor, analizando temas como la mejora del dolor y los efectos secundarios. Esta es una revisión sistemática realizada a través de las bases de datos SciELO, LILACS y Medline/PubMed con estudios observacionales publicados en los últimos 5 años. En total fueron encontrados 13.910 artículos, después de aplicar los criterios de inclusión y exclusión quedaron 18 estudios para componer la base de datos. Se analizaron un total de 7.389 pacientes, con predominio del sexo femenino (n=3.623). El dolor crónico fue el más mencionado en los estudios (n=1.492 casos), seguido del dolor neuropático (n=870 casos) y el dolor post-lesión/trauma (n=794 casos). En 10 estudios, con una muestra de 4.611 pacientes, 3.579 (77,62%) refirieron mejoría en el nivel de dolor tras iniciar el consumo de Cannabis. Otros beneficios de este tratamiento fueron mejorar el sueño, reducir el consumo de opioides y mejorar la calidad de vida. Para el dolor crónico refractario o de baja respuesta al tratamiento convencional, el uso de Cannabis es una buena opción, ya que es capaz de aliviar el dolor, así como sus síntomas asociados, lo que mejora la calidad de vida del paciente y además reduce el consumo de opioides.
