Periodización del entrenamiento para triatletas Ironman: Uns revisión sistemática de los métodos y la eficácia de los programas de entrenamiento

Resumen

El objetivo del presente estudio fue revisar sistemáticamente la literatura sobre la periodización del entrenamiento para triatletas de larga distancia, Ironman 70.3 y competidores de Ironman. Las búsquedas se realizaron en PubMed, SportDiscus, Web of Science, Scopus, Lilacs, Scielo y Medline. El análisis de la información del artículo se realizó mediante la lista de verificación de declaraciones STROBE y los datos se analizaron mediante la técnica de análisis de contenido categórico. La revisión incluyó 6 estudios publicados desde 1989 hasta 2020. Los deportistas de ambos sexos, contemplando el nivel amateur de competición, son representantes de las siguientes modalidades: Ironman (66,8%) e Ironman 70,3 (33,2%). Las encuestas se desarrollaron en España (2), Estados Unidos (1), Canadá (1) y en otros dos estudios no se mencionó el lugar de la competencia por parte de los autores. Los resultados revelaron que se utilizó la Periodización Clásica como modelo de entrenamiento, un gran volumen semanal y muchas sesiones de entrenamiento. La mayor parte del tiempo dedicado a las sesiones de entrenamiento se dedicó a entrenamientos de baja intensidad y una pequeña parte a intensidad umbral o alta intensidad. Se observa, por lo tanto, que los deportes de resistencia requieren que los atletas pasen gran parte de su tiempo entrenando a baja intensidad para lograr mejores ganancias en el rendimiento. Este estudio también concluyó que existe una falta de investigación con respecto a la periodización de eventos de entrenamiento para esta población específicamente.
