Asimetrías de género en un grupo de apoyo para mujeres alcohólicas en la ciudad de São Paulo-Brasil

Resumen

El objetivo de este estudio cualitativo fue analizar cómo las asimetrías de género configuran e interfieren en el trato de treinta mujeres alcohólicas miembros de Alcohólicos Anónimos (AA) en São Paulo, Brasil. La recolección de datos se llevó a cabo a través de una entrevista semiestructurada. En el proceso de análisis se identificaron tres categorías: “El alcoholismo es una sola enfermedad, pero para las mujeres es mucho peor”; “Las mujeres no pueden ventilar su sentimiento íntimo en las reuniones mixtas de AA”; “En una reunión de mujeres de AA comparto la naturaleza exacta de mi dolor y me hace más fuerte”. Las declaraciones de las mujeres mostraron que las asimetrías de género interferían decisivamente en el trato a las integrantes de AA, ya que ellas no se sentían cómodas discutiendo detalles de su intimidad en presencia de hombres. Concluyese que la reunión solo para mujeres es fundamental para apoyar y fortalecer a las mujeres alcohólicas en AA como complemento del grupo de apoyo de AA, sin las presiones de la discriminación de género.
