Síndrome de COVID larga: una revisión integrativa

Resumen

Objetivo: Realizar una revisión integradora sobre las manifestaciones clínicas y el impacto del síndrome de COVID largo en adultos. Metodología: Se trata de un estudio con enfoque cualitativo, revisión integradora, recolección de datos de artículos se realizó mediante el software “Publish or Perish”, búsqueda con el título y palabras clave “long COVID” y “post COVID” y artículos seleccionados que tienen índice H, una métrica de citas. Resultados y Discusión: Se buscaron 3999 artículos, 567 con índice H y 29 seleccionados por artículo. Agrupados por temas: epidemiología de la COVID larga: grupos más afectados; factores de riesgo o predictores; manifestaciones clínicas; progresión de los síntomas; relación entre la gravedad de la condición aguda y COVID a largo plazo; situación específica tras el alta hospitalaria e impacto socioeconómico. El estudio mostró una mayor prevalencia en el sexo femenino, mayor grupo etario, con relevancia de los datos para la persistencia de los síntomas, siendo muchos o específicos los síntomas al inicio del cuadro como factor de riesgo, cuyas manifestaciones clínicas más frecuentes fueron fatiga, disnea y condición neuropsicológica, con evolución variable e impacto significativo en la salud y la vida. Conclusión: Debido al tamaño de los pacientes afectados y la proporción del síndrome de COVID larga presentado en los estudios, es necesario poder identificar los aspectos relacionados con la COVID larga y el impacto en la calidad de vida de los individuos para poder incentivar la producción científica al respecto de temas aún no bien esclarecidos y brindar actualizaciones a los profesionales de la salud.

Médico Neurocirurgião concursado do Serviço de Neurocirurgia do Hospital Geral de Palmas, atendendo também a hospitais privados e sócio proprietário do Instituto de Neurociências do Tocantins.
