Impacto de un programa de rehabilitación pulmonar en pacientes con enfermidades pulmonares crónicas en un centro de atención terciaria

Resumen

Las enfermedades respiratorias crónicas pueden conducir a una limitación en las actividades diarias del paciente y a una mala Calidad de Vida (CV). La Rehabilitación Pulmonar (RP) consiste en una atención integral e individualizada que tiene como objetivo mejorar el acondicionamiento físico y psicológico del paciente, útil en el manejo de diferentes enfermedades pulmonares. La evaluación de la CV y Capacidad de Ejercicio Funcional (CEF) de los pacientes sometidos a RP permite cuantificar el efecto de la intervención y la respuesta al tratamiento. El estudio tuvo como objetivo evaluar el impacto de un Programa de Rehabilitación Pulmonar (PRP) en la CV y CEF de pacientes con enfermedades pulmonares crónicas, buscando determinar la presencia de Diferencia Mínima Importante (DMCI) al final del período de rehabilitación. El estudio se realizó de forma retrospectiva mediante la recopilación de datos de 37 pacientes con enfermedades pulmonares crónicas que se sometieron a un PRP entre 2016 y 2019 en un centro de atención terciaria en São Luis, Maranhão. Se observó que los pacientes que concluyeron el PRP obtuvieron mejoría significativa en la puntuación del Saint George Respiratory Questionnaire (SGRQ) y en la distancia recorrida en el Test de Caminata de Seis Minutos (TC6). En este último, casi la mitad (48,6%) de los pacientes obtuvieron DMCI, mayoritariamente el grupo diagnosticado de Enfermedad Pulmonar Obstructiva Crónica (EPOC). Concluimos que los pacientes con enfermedades pulmonares crónicas que se sometieron a PR pueden lograr resultados clínicos favorables, mejorando la CEF y CV.
