La identificación de exacerbaciones clínicas en asma y dermatitis atópica después de COVID-19

Resumen

En enero de 2020, la Organización Mundial de la Salud declaró una Emergencia de Salud Pública y el 11 de marzo, una pandemia. El COVID-19 es causado por el SARS-CoV-2 y tiene una clínica caracterizada por síntomas respiratorios agudos asociados o sin síntomas sistémicos. Las manifestaciones cutáneas de la enfermedad están menos reportadas y su influencia en la evolución y diagnóstico ha sido pobremente descrita. El asma es una condición heterogénea y las exacerbaciones de la enfermedad ocurren debido a infecciones virales. La dermatitis atópica es una enfermedad que ha afectado cada vez más a la población y con el cambio en la rutina de comportamiento de las personas relacionado con el aislamiento social provocado por la pandemia, hubo detonantes para el agravamiento. El presente estudio busca evaluar los datos de la literatura sobre el efecto potencial de la infección por SARS-CoV-2 sobre la dermatitis atópica y el asma en pacientes asmáticos, atópicos y sanos. Se trata de una revisión sistemática de la literatura realizada a través de la plataforma PUBMED entre mayo y julio de 2022, con los descriptores “asthma”, “atopic dermatitis”, “symptom flare up” e “COVID-19”, habiéndose seleccionado 11 artículos. Hubo una reducción de las exacerbaciones del asma debido a la reducción de los desencadenantes ambientales, el distanciamiento social y una mayor adherencia al tratamiento de la enfermedad. Por otro lado, hubo un aumento de las exacerbaciones de la dermatitis atópica, mostrando una asociación entre algunos estresores y el empeoramiento del curso de la enfermedad. Los asmáticos no tienen aumento de exacerbaciones al infectarse con SARS-CoV-2. Mientras que los pacientes con dermatitis atópica manifiestan una mayor exacerbación.
