El papel de un Centro de Distribución (CD) en el sector de supermercados: una revisión sistemática de la literatura

La competencia cada vez más intensa aliada a la creciente demanda de los clientes ha hecho imprescindible que las empresas adopten los conceptos y herramientas de la logística empresarial. En el sector retail, esta condición es aún más imperativa en áreas específicas de la gestión logística, como la gestión del almacenaje y el manejo de materiales, contribuyendo decisivamente a obtener una ventaja competitiva frente a competidores que no aplican dichos conceptos y herramientas. Este artículo tiene como objetivo realizar una revisión sistemática de la literatura sobre el rol del Centro de Distribución (CD) en el sector de los supermercados. Se analizaron 64 estudios publicados sobre el tema. Las funciones logísticas que componen las operaciones de un CD fueron identificadas en la literatura y discutidas, proporcionando una mayor comprensión de los procesos, permitiendo la mejora continua de estas actividades. Los resultados demuestran la importancia de las actividades logísticas vinculadas a los CD, especialmente para el sector de los supermercados. Esta investigación puede contribuir a los profesionales de la logística que buscan una mejor comprensión de las actividades y flujos de gestión de CD.
