Relación de las fracturas mandibulares con la presencia de terceros molares inferiores y sus posiciones

Resumen

Introducción: Las fracturas mandibulares corresponden aproximadamente del 15,5 al 59% de las fracturas faciales, ocurriendo por factores locales que son causados ​​por variaciones en la posición de los terceros molares, así como por impactación, que incluyen retención prolongada de dientes temporales, mal posicionamiento de los gérmenes dentarios, insuficiente extensióndel arco dentario, diente supernumerario, tumores odontogénicos, trayectoria de erupción anormal. Objetivo: comprender, a través de una revisión de la literatura, la relación entre las fracturas mandibulares y la presencia o ausencia de terceros molares inferiores. Material y Método: Se realizó una búsqueda bibliográfica en las bases de datos PUBMED y SCIELO, seleccionando artículos de casos y controles, epidemiológicos, prospectivos conun máximo de 6 años en la literatura. Resultados: Los resultados mostraron que la presencia de terceiros molares inferiores impactados aumenta las posibilidades de fracturas angulares. Los terceros molares perdidos o completamente erupcionados se correlacionaron significativamente con las fracturas condíleas. Encuanto a las posiciones, las clases III y C son las más propensas a causar fracturas de lángulo mandibular. Las posiciones de terceros molares más favorables para fractura condilar son clase A e I. Conclusión: La presencia de terceros molares inferiores impactados aumenta las posibilidades de fracturas angulares y su ausencia o erupción completa se correlaciona significativamente con fracturas condilares. Las posiciones de Clase III y C son más propensas a causar fracturas de lángulo mandibular.
