Repercussões orais em pacientes submetidos ao transplante de células tronco hematopoiéticas: Uma revisão integrativa da literatura

Resumen

Objetivo: Esta revisión integrativa tuvo como objetivo identificar y describir los cambios bucales resultantes del TCMH, así como evaluar la importancia del cuidado odontológico ante estas complicaciones. Metodología: Se realizó una revisión integrativa de la literatura con búsqueda bibliográfica de artículos científicos en las bases de datos electrónicas PubMed, Scielo y Biblioteca Virtual en Salud (BVS) entre los años 2009 y 2023. Para la búsqueda se utilizaron los siguientes descriptores: “hematopoietic stem cell transplantation”, “manifestaciones bucales”, “mucositis”, “xerostomía”, “cuidados odontológicos”, “disgeusia”. Resultados: Las principales manifestaciones encontradas fueron: mucositis oral, xerostomía, ulceraciones, eritema, enfermedad de injerto contra huésped (EICH) y lesiones liquenoides. Conclusión: La mayoría de los pacientes sometidos a TCMH tienen repercusiones orales desde el período de acondicionamiento hasta post-TCMH y dichas condiciones afectan la calidad de vida y la supervivencia de estos pacientes, contribuyendo a una mayor duración de la estancia hospitalaria. Por ello, se hace necesaria la presencia de un cirujano dentista calificado en los hospitales en el equipo multidisciplinario, para contribuir a un aumento significativo de la calidad de vida de los pacientes.
