La relación de los disruptores endocrinos en la salud reproductiva femenina

Resumen

Los disruptores endocrinos son sustancias químicas capaces de interferir con la homeostasis hormonal, alterando la síntesis, función, almacenamiento y/o metabolismo de las hormonas, es decir, pueden influir en diversos aspectos de la salud femenina al interferir con el sistema endocrino. Objetivo: analizar los efectos de los disruptores endocrinos en la salud reproductiva femenina. Metodología: el presente estudio se realizó mediante una revisión bibliográfico de la literatura. Se utilizaron documentos científicos y documentos oficiales de Organismos Nacionales e Internacionales de Salud y se seleccionaron trabajos publicados en los últimos diez años (2014-2024) en portugués e inglés. Las bases de datos buscadas fueron SCIELO, PUBMED y EBSCO. Discusión: La exposición a disruptores endocrinos en mujeres de 45 a 55 años demuestra claramente una asociación con una menopausia más temprana, que ocurre entre 1,9 y 3,8 años antes, cuando hay niveles elevados de químicos disruptores endocrinos en suero o orina. Existe una asociación con una mayor prevalencia de SOP (síndrome de ovario poliquístico) en mujeres en edad reproductiva cuando se someten a una mayor exposición a sustancias perfluoroalquiladas (PFAS) y bisfenol A (BPA). Varias clases de disruptores endocrinos están asociadas con la endometriosis, la infertilidad femenina y la insuficiencia ovárica prematura. Consideraciones finales: la exposición humana a disruptores endocrinos es permanente y continua, ya que están presentes en varios productos de uso diario. Esto provoca, así, alteraciones en la salud reproductiva femenina, siendo el papel del nutricionista aconsejar cómo minimizar la exposición y, sobre todo, fomentar un estilo de vida más saludable.
