Comparação entre TCFC e panorâmica para avaliar a relação do seio maxilar e dentes posteriores superiors

Resumo

Objetivo: Fornecer ao dentista uma análise objetiva dos métodos radiográficos úteis para avaliar a relação entre as raízes dos dentes posteriores superiores e o seio maxilar. Metodologia: Realizamos uma revisão integrativa da literatura, utilizamos 23 artigos publicados em inglês dos últimos doze anos, dentro da base de dados PubMed e um agregado de busca manual. Resultados: Após utilizarmos nossos critérios de inclusão e exclusão, foram escolhidos um total de 23 artigos para a elaboração desta revisão literária e um livro. Discussão: Durante certos procedimentos odontológicos no maxilar superior existe o risco de lesão do seio maxilar, sendo importante avaliar radiograficamente o paciente antes de realizar qualquer procedimento. Embora as radiografias panorâmicas sejam baratas e nos ofereçam a visualização necessária para detectar a relação dos dentes posteriores superiores com o seio maxilar, há casos em que essas imagens não são totalmente precisas e é necessário um estudo de TCFC. Conclusão: A imagem panorâmica é útil para a análise das raízes dos dentes e do seio maxilar desde que os dentes não se movam em direção ao seio, mas a imagem TCFC é incomparável em termos de precisão na posição das diferentes estruturas No entanto, para a decisão final, devem ser avaliados fatores como: peça dentária a ser avaliada, sexo e idade, preço de cada estudo, dose de radiação e necessidade dependendo de cada caso.
