Resistência à tração do material de sutura para cirurgia oral e periodontal: Uma revisão narrativa

Resumo

Objetivo: Fornecer uma revisão narrativa da literatura atual sobre a resistência à tração de diferentes materiais de sutura empregados em cirurgia oral e periodontal. Materiais e métodos: Os termos MESH foram usados ​​para pesquisar a literatura relevante eletronicamente nas bases de dados PubMed, Science Direct, Semantic Scholar, Scopus, Scielo, SpringerLink e Google Scholar. Esta revisão analisou estudos sobre materiais de sutura monofilamentares, multifilamentares, absorvíveis e não absorvíveis. Conclusões: As melhores propriedades de resistência à tração podem ser encontradas em polipropileno, ácido poliglicólico, material de sutura de polidioxanona devido às suas propriedades. Esses dados devem ser considerados para que o operador escolha o material de sutura levando em consideração seu comportamento de resistência à tração para cirurgias periodontais ou bucais onde as suturas precisam ser retidas por períodos mais longos. No entanto, mais estudos são necessários para entender a resistência à tração em diferentes procedimentos e a variabilidade das situações clínicas.
