Mortalidade em idosos como desfecho da associação de sintomas depressivos e deficiência de 25(OH)D: uma revisão integrativa

Resumo

A depressão é uma doença que causa grande incapacidade e possui alta prevalência entre idosos. Também de expressiva distribuição se encontra a deficiência de vitamina D, que favorece o desenvolvimento de sintomas depressivos. Tanto a depressão quanto baixos níveis de vitamina D isoladamente são preditores de maior mortalidade. Esta revisão integrativa teve o objetivo de levantar informações acerca da combinação de deficiência de vitamina D e presença de depressão, e a influência na mortalidade em idosos. Foi realizada pesquisa nas bases de dados eletrônicas BVS, Embase, Cochrane e PubMed, sem restrição do tipo de estudo, linguística ou de tempo, com os descritores “depressão”, “deficiência de vitamina D”, “idosos”, “mortalidade”, e suas variações. A busca inicial identificou 302 artigos. Após exclusão dos duplicados e dos trabalhos que não englobaram todos os descritores de interesse, foram incluídos dois artigos para a presente revisão integrativa. Identificou-se que a população estudada tinha baixos níveis de 25(OH)D, e que isto se associou à ocorrência de sintomas depressivos. A análise conjunta de depressão e deficiência de 25(OH)D, e o impacto na mortalidade foi realizada em apenas um dos artigos. Neste, os indivíduos deprimidos com maior risco de óbito apresentavam deficiência de 25(OH)D. Em conclusão, observou-se associação entre depressão e baixos níveis de vitamina D, relacionando-se à maior mortalidade. Estas variáveis são modificáveis, porém, a literatura apresenta poucos dados neste contexto para permitir uma tomada de decisão. Mais pesquisas na área poderão esclarecer a relação que existe entre depressão, deficiência de vitamina D e mortalidade, e possibilitar modificação no curso deste desfecho.
