Impactos do distanciamento social da pandemia de COVID-19 em pessoas idosas com Alzheimer: Revisão de escopo

Resumo

Objetivo: Mapear os impactos das medidas de distanciamento social adotadas durante a pandemia de COVID-19 para pessoas idosas diagnosticadas com a Doença de Alzheimer. Metodologia: Revisão de escopo segundo o método JBI. A estratégia de busca foi aplicada nas bases de dados LILACS e outras/BVS, Scopus e Embase/Elsevier, MEDLINE/PUBMED, CINAHL e outras/Ebsco, Cochrane Library/Wiley, PsycINFO/APA,  Web of Science Core Collection/Clarivate e no Google Acadêmico. O sistema Rayyan foi utilizado para o gerenciamento da seleção dos artigos. A extração foi realizada em um instrumento próprio elaborado para alcançar o objetivo desta revisão. Resultados: A busca resultou em 25 estudos e foram identificados seis temas principais: impactos na cognição; impactos nos sintomas comportamentais e psicológicos da demência; impactos na funcionalidade; impactos no acesso aos serviços de cuidado em saúde; impacto no nível de estresse e impactos na qualidade de vida. Conclusão: Os resultados indicam a necessidade de mudanças no paradigma assistencial que foi adotado durante a última pandemia, pois as pessoas idosas com Alzheimer foram afetadas pelas medidas de distanciamento social em diversos domínios. O desenvolvimento de uma gestão de cuidados mais flexível e adaptada às necessidades específicas deste grupo, pode ser uma poderosa estratégia tanto para evitar a suspensão dos estímulos cognitivos/físicos e promover algum nível de sociabilidade para as pessoas com DA quanto também para manter a assistência aos seus cuidadores durante cenários pandêmicos.
