This study aimed to analyze the scientific production of Graduate Programs (PPGs) at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) between 2021 and 2024, based on data from the Sucupira Platform – CAPES, considering differences among major fields of knowledge and aspects related to experimental infrastructure in Biological and Health Sciences. This is a quantitative, descriptive, documentary, and scientometric study based on secondary data regarding the intellectual production of graduate programs. A total of 86 graduate programs distributed across major areas of knowledge were analyzed, totaling 29,951 scientific publications. The results revealed significant heterogeneity among areas, with Health Sciences, Human Sciences, and Biological Sciences showing the highest scientific production volumes. A general reduction trend in scientific production was observed throughout the analyzed period, especially in 2024, possibly associated with delays in Sucupira Platform records and the dynamics of the CAPES evaluation system. Additionally, an exploratory analysis was conducted involving graduate programs linked to the Institute of Basic Health Sciences (ICBS), incorporating institutional information related to the use of animal models in research. The findings suggest that programs with greater experimental intensity have relevant participation in institutional scientific production. The results contribute to understanding scientific production dynamics in Brazilian graduate education and indicate the potential incorporation of variables related to experimentality and research infrastructure in institutional scientometric studies.
