The objective of this study is to present a guide covering the foundations of scientific methodology and the main elements required for the development, execution, and management of research projects. The methodology adopted for the development of this guide is characterized as basic research with a qualitative approach and a descriptive-exploratory objective. Initially, the different types of knowledge empirical, philosophical, theological, and scientific are presented, as well as the concepts of data, information, knowledge, and science. Subsequently, the study addresses scientific methods, research natures and approaches, types of studies, and procedures for data collection and analysis. The article also provides guidance on the formulation of research questions, definition of objectives, development of theoretical framework, formulation of hypotheses, methodological aspects, and the structuring of scientific projects. In addition, it discusses principles of ethics and integrity in research, citation and reference standards, as well as project management practices applied to academic research, including planning, scheduling, risk analysis, financial management, and team organization. The guide has an introductory and didactic character, aiming to assist researchers in training in understanding the essential stages of scientific development and in constructing research projects in an organized, systematic, and well-founded manner.
