Analysis of urban occupation in an Environmental Interest Zone

Interest in wooded areas within the urban perimeter has led to the need to analyze urban occupation and environmental zoning areas in the North and West administrative regions of Cuiabá. This article aims to analyze the North and West administrative regions of Cuiabá (MT) in the year 2025, focusing on verifying the conformity of occupation in ZIA1, ZIA2, and ZIA3 zones and protected areas using geoprocessing to understand the environmental problem. Geotechnologies were used with analysis of satellite images in February 2025, with vectorization of built-up areas and cross-referencing with urban planning parameters. The methodology allowed the identification of occupations in ZIA zones, and the results point to the consolidation of occupations in locations that should be protected, revealing flaws in the effectiveness of the intended public protection policies.
