The demand for sustainable animal production systems has driven studies on strategies to reduce the use of nitrogen fertilizers without compromising pasture productivity. In this context, plant growth-promoting bacteria, such as Azospirillum brasilense and Bacillus spp., show potential for optimizing nutrient absorption and reducing dependence on chemical inputs. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of inoculation with Azospirillum brasiliense, Bacillus aryabhattai, B. circulans, B. haynesii, and B. licheniformis on Tifton 85 grass pastures in the summer and ryegrass in the winter, both used for hay and haylage production. The results indicated that inoculation with A. brasilense and Bacillus spp. enabled a reduction in nitrogen fertilization without significant detriment to forage production, making it a viable strategy for sustainable forage systems.
