La eficacia de la suplementación con beta-alanina en atletas de entrenamiento de resistencia y fuerza

Resumen

Objetivo: Analizar la eficacia de suplementación con beta-alanina en atletas sometidos a entrenamiento de fuerza y resistencia.Metodología: El estudio se realizó mediante una revisión de la literatura, basada en investigaciones publicadas entre 2015 y 2025 en portugués e inglés, incluyendo artículos científicos y revisiones que abordan el tema, enfatizando los efectos sistémicos de la beta-alanina y so uso en atletas que realizan entrenamiento de fuerza y resistencia. Las bases de datos utilizadas fueron PUBMED, EBSCO y SCIELO. Discusión: La suplementación mostró relevancia en entrenamientos de fuerza y resistencia, con resultados más significativos en los de fuerza, aunque también aplicable a los de resistencia. La principal función observada de la beta-alanina fue la síntesis de carnosina, que neutraliza los iones de hidrógeno durante el ejercicio, reduciendo la sensación de esfuerzo,siendo la parestesia el principal efecto secundario. Los efectos pueden variar según la modalidad deportiva y el público objetivo. Consideraciones finales: La beta-alanina es eficaz y aplicable para entrenamientos de fuerza y resistencia debido a su mecanismo de acción,siendo capaz de mejorar el rendimiento en distintos tipos de entrenamiento. Sin embargo,la intensidad de sus efectos puede variar de acuerdo con la modalidad y el perfil de los atletas.
