Absenteísmo entre estudiantes de Medicina: Una revisión integradora sobre causas e implicaciones académicas

Resumen

El ausentismo entre estudiantes de Medicina es un fenómeno frecuente y multifactorial, con posibles repercusiones en el rendimiento académico, el desarrollo profesional y la formación ética de los futuros médicos. Objetivo: Identificar, según la literatura científica, los principales factores asociados al ausentismo en la carrera de Medicina. Método: Revisión integrativa realizada en la base PubMed en marzo de 2025, utilizando los descriptores MeSH “Absenteeism” AND “Students, Medical”. Se incluyeron estudios originales que abordaban las causas del ausentismo entre estudiantes de Medicina. Resultados: Los factores más asociados al ausentismo fueron: desinterés por el contenido, metodologías de enseñanza ineficaces, preparación para otros exámenes, problemas de salud, largas jornadas de prácticas, uso de sustancias y dificultades de comunicación con los docentes. Conclusión: El ausentismo constituye un desafío educativo relevante y requiere acciones institucionales para su prevención. Estrategias como capacitación docente, metodologías activas, apoyo psicopedagógico y reorganización curricular son fundamentales para mitigar este fenómeno.
