Manejo nutricional en lipedema: Una revisión integradora

Resumen

El lipedema es una enfermedad crónica y progresiva caracterizada por la acumulación bilateral de grasa en los miembros inferiores y/o superiores, afectando principalmente a mujeres en periodos de fluctuación hormonal, como la pubertad, el embarazo y la menopausia. Sus principales síntomas incluyen dolor, edema y hematomas. La fisiopatología aún es poco conocida y existen hipótesis sobre la influencia del estrógeno en la acumulación desproporcionada de grasa. La enfermedad suele estar infradiagnosticada debido a su similitud con la obesidad, la celulitis y el linfedema, que pueden retrasar el tratamiento. El manejo nutricional, incluidas las dietas cetogénicas, mediterráneas y bajas en carbohidratos, puede contribuir a reducir la progresión de la enfermedad. Este estudio tiene como objetivo evaluar diferentes enfoques dietéticos en el tratamiento del lipedema en función de su fisiopatología, a través de una revisión integradora de la literatura, utilizando artículos de los últimos cinco años en bases de datos como PubMed, SciELO, MDPI y Google Scholar, con los descriptores “Lipedema”, “Terapia nutricional” y “Fisiopatología”.
