The performance of the Military Police of Alagoas in occurrences of disturbance of work and public peace: Legal limits and operational challenges

Urban cohabitation has intensified conflicts related to noise production and the use of sound equipment, making occurrences of disturbance of work and public peace increasingly frequent. In this context, the Military Police plays a relevant role in preserving public order and mediating conflicts arising from such situations. This study aims to analyze the actions of the Military Police of Alagoas in occurrences of disturbance of work and public peace, identifying the legal limits and operational challenges faced in handling these demands. The research adopts a qualitative approach, with descriptive and exploratory characteristics, developed through a bibliographic review and documentary analysis of relevant legislation, especially the Federal Constitution, the Law of Criminal Misdemeanors, and Law No. 9,099/1995. Results indicate that, although classified as a minor offense, this type of occurrence has a significant impact on the dynamics of ostensive policing, requiring public agents to properly interpret the law and act in accordance with the principles of legality, reasonableness, and proportionality. It is concluded that improving police performance depends on the legal training of officers, the standardization of operational protocols, and the adoption of preventive policies aimed at reducing conflicts related to noise pollution.
