Entrenamiento de fuerza en la mujer en el climaterio: evidencia y beneficios según la literatura científica

Resumen

El climaterio corresponde al período de transición biológica que antecede y sucede a la menopausia, caracterizado por alteraciones hormonales significativas que impactan la salud física, metabólica y emocional de las mujeres. Esta fase, generalmente vivida entre los 40 y 65 años, está asociada a síntomas como sofocos repentinos, trastornos del sueño, aumento de peso, pérdida de masa y fuerza muscular, además del incremento del riesgo de enfermedades cardiovasculares y osteoporosis. Las mujeres en el período climatérico atraviesan una transición vital que marca el fin de la capacidad reproductiva. Durante esta fase, los cambios hormonales tienen impactos significativos. En este contexto, la práctica de ejercicio físico asume un papel central, destacándose el Entrenamiento de Fuerza (EF), también denominado entrenamiento resistido o musculación. El presente estudio tiene como objetivo verificar, a través de una revisión bibliográfica, los posibles beneficios del entrenamiento de fuerza para mujeres en el climaterio en términos de salud física, síntomas climatéricos y calidad de vida. Para ello, el estudio busca: 1- Identificar los efectos del entrenamiento de fuerza sobre la fuerza muscular y la composición corporal. 2- Evaluar el impacto del ejercicio resistido en la densidad mineral ósea y en la prevención de la sarcopenia. 3- Investigar la influencia del entrenamiento sobre los síntomas climatéricos (sofocos, trastornos del sueño y alteraciones del humor). 4- Verificar los efectos en la calidad de vida y el bienestar psicológico.
