Health education about sexually transmitted infection prophylaxis in the Municipality of Santo Ângelo, State of Rio Grande do Sul (RS), Brazil

Objective: To describe the experience of Biomedicine students regarding health education provided to adolescent students on sexually transmitted infections. Methodology: Descriptive, qualitative, experience report study. Initially, a theoretical presentation on the topics covered was developed, focusing on images and the most relevant characteristics of STIs, to facilitate understanding of the content. Next, the students participated in a board game related to the topic. The game consisted of a board with 36 squares and, by rolling the dice, the participants of each class were directed to answer questions related to the topics discussed. Results: Regarding the theoretical presentation, the younger students showed more interest and curiosity in the cases presented, although there were expressions of aversion to the images. The activity did not involve questions, but observing the students' behavior, this could be attributed to the clarity of the proposed theoretical presentation. Regarding the practical activity, the students showed engagement, and through their answers, many were able to assimilate the content previously presented. Furthermore, the younger students once again stood out, this time in terms of the number of correct answers to the proposed questions. Conclusion: It was noted that the playful methodology was effective, not only due to the engaged participation of the students, but also due to the way it aroused interest and curiosity. The board game proved to be a tool that reinforced learning, while creating an interactive and competitive environment.
