Strategias para la atención centrada en el paciente en los servicios hospitalarios

Resumen

El objetivo de este estudio es comprender las estrategias de atención centrada en el paciente en los servicios hospitalarios. Se realizó un estudio cualitativo que utiliza el marco metodológico de Investigación en Atención Convergente, desarrollado en una unidad de hospitalización clínico-quirúrgica de un hospital universitario. Se realizaron diecisiete entrevistas con pacientes y profesionales de la salud, entre noviembre de 2021 y mayo de 2022. El análisis de datos siguió las etapas de aprehensión, síntesis, teorización y transferencia. Las estrategias enumeradas apuntan a la confianza entre paciente y profesional, así como al equipo multidisciplinario que estimula este proceso, la ausencia de errores en el proceso de atención y los momentos propicios para estimular la participación. Como estrategias organizativas, se destacaron las características del hospital universitario, la formación institucional, los sistemas de salud que trabajan con la perspectiva de evitar eventos adversos y la contrarreferencia con atención primaria, que pueden fortalecer la atención centrada en el paciente. Las estrategias permitieron elaborar un folleto sobre el tema estudiado, con la premisa de sensibilizar a los actores involucrados y promover cambios en la práctica asistencial.
