Abstract

At the end of 2019, in Wuhan, China, the emergence of a new virus, called severe acute respiratory syndrome 2 (SARS-CoV-2, from Severe acute respiratory syndrome-associated coronavirus 2), which causes COVID, was identified. -19, an infectious disease. The clinical characteristics of patients with this disease are quite variable, and may present in a mild, severe and even fatal form. Although there are no major incidences in pediatrics, a new presentation, responsible for affecting children and adolescents and that may have a causal association with SARS-CoV-2, was called pediatric multisystem inflammatory syndrome (P-SIM). This condition refers to a serious involvement of children who need hospital intervention due to intense inflammatory conditions, associated with persistent fever, which can lead to shock and multiple organ failure. The aim is to identify the association between SIM-P and COVID-19 and its main clinical manifestations, through a systematic literature review, in order to collaborate in the medical approach and scientific knowledge about SIM-P, helping in optimizing its diagnosis and treatment, since data on the subject are still scarce. This work consists of a systematic literature review, quantitative and descriptive, in which were used as databases the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), US National Library of Medicine (PubMed) and Virtual Health Library (VHL), using keywords present in Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS).
