Hydrocarbons directly or indirectly affect plants causing adverse effects on the physiological processes of plants. This work aims to analyze the initial development of rice in soil contaminated by hydrocarbons. The work was carried out in August 2021, at Faculdades Integradas Stella Maris de Andradina (FISMA), located in the municipality of Andradina, state of São Paulo. The design was completely randomized, in a 2x5 factorial scheme, with two hydrocarbons, regular gasoline and kerosene; interacting with five doses applied to the soil, namely: zero (control); a; two; four and eight mL dm-3 of soil and with four replications, totaling 40 plots. Rice is not indicated for the phytoremediation of soils contaminated with gasoline and kerosene. Rice shows a negative response when exposed to soils contaminated by hydrocarbons. Kerosene caused more damage to rice development when compared to gasoline.
