Characterized by low back pain, morning stiffness, fatigue and progressive functional limitation, Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS), a chronic inflammatory disease, considered part of the spondyloarthritis group. Often confused with other pathologies due to the complaint of low back pain being common in the general population. This literature review sought to clarify and investigate the development of Ankylosing Spondylitis during the gestational period. Through the selection of articles, using the Scielo platform (Scientific Electronic Library Online) and PubMed, 55 articles were selected, of which 17 supported this review. Through bibliographic research carried out through searches for the descriptors “ankylosing spondylitis and pregnancy” (ankylosing spondylitis and pregnancy), “treatment of ankylosing spondylitis in pregnancy” (treatment of ankylosing spondylitis in pregnancy/ el embarazo), “complications of ankylosing spondylitis in pregnancy” (complications of ankylosing spondylitis in pregnancy/complicaciones de la ankylosing spondylitis in el embarazo), “risk factors of pregnancy with ankylosing spondylitis” (risk factors of pregnancy with ankylosing spondylitis/factors of risk for embarassment with ankylosing spondylitis). Associated with the gestational picture and the limitations of the disease with the interruption of treatment, there is a probability that the gestational period will lead to the progression of the disease for the carrier.
