Introduction: Breast cancer is the neoplasm that most affects women in Brazil. About 66,280 new cases were estimated in Brazil in 2021, with an estimated risk of 61.61 cases per 100,000 women. The recommendation of the Ministry of Health, as the World Health Organization is screening through mammography in women aged 50 to 69 years, once every two years. Objective: to trace the epidemiological profile of patients with malignant breast cancer, diagnosed in the state of Pará, between 2015 and 2020. Methodology: This is a longitudinal, retrospective and quantitative epidemiological study using data provided by the Department of Information and Informatics of the SUS (DATASUS), on the detection of breast cancer from January 2015 to December 2020. Results and Discussion: A significant increase in the number of mammograms in the state of Pará of 78.12% in the years of 2016 to 2015, 59.93% from 2016 to 2017, 16.98% from 2017 to 2018, 9.83% from 2018 to 2019 and from 2019 to 2020 there was a 5.10% decrease in the number of mammograms performed . Conclusion: Therefore, knowledge about risk factors, prevention, screening and early detection is essential to reduce the incidence of breast cancer in Pará and Brazil.
