Difficulties of health professionals in the use of latex gloves: literature review

The objective was to identify the difficulties in the use of latex procedure gloves. This was a literature review, the publications were captured in january 2020 with a virtual search through the PubMed and Lilacs Portal using the following descriptors: Health personnel; protective gloves; Hypersensitivity to Latex; Occupational disease; Saúde do Trabalhador, with Boolean operator AND and OR, published in Portuguese, Spanish, French and English, of the article type. It was noticed that the little or loss of sensitivity were difficulties pointed out in most articles, followed by discomfort and difficulties in handling, and other reports referring to misfits, low durability of gloves, wear of gloves, perforation, dermatitis, poor quality of glove component materials and risk of contamination. Conclusion: The low sensitivity, discomfort and handling during the procedures for the use of gloves proved to be relevant difficulties identified in the reports of professionals, with this, studies should be developed in order to dimension in clinical practice the participation of gloves in the procedures of health and implement effective actions to control the use of this important protective equipment.
