The study of paleometry in the Araripe Basin

Abstract

The present research is a bibliographic review of the narrative type, with the objective of presenting the state of the art, containing an updated overview of all the published works referring to the use of paleometric techniques in the characterization of the fossils belonging to the Araripe Basin in a way chronological in time and space. The information was obtained through searches in online databases, in addition to queries in academic repositories. The use of paleometry began to expand in the scenario of this stratigraphic unit from the research by Lima and collaborators in 2007. Although 16 years have passed since these pioneering works, few studies have been published, totaling only 17 works so far, in addition to that these researches were restricted, almost exclusively to the Santana Group (in the Crato, Ipubi and Romualdo Formations), thus existing a gap for the other Formations that hold fossils, which make up the geological history of the region. It is hoped that the data gathered and presented here can subsidize and encourage future research in the area, thus contributing to the progress and expansion of paleometry in the Araripe Basin.

Academic of the 8th semester of Biological Sciences - Bachelor's degree from the Regional University of Cariri-URCA, visiting researcher at the Laboratory of Paleontology of Urca-LPU, with experience in paleobotany and paleometry.

 

Olga Alcântara Barros, Universidade Regional do Cariri; Museu de Paleontologia Plácido Cidade Nuvens

Graduated in Biological Sciences (Bachelor) from the Regional University of Cariri (2011), specialist in Ecology and Master in Molecular Bioprospecting from the Regional University of Cariri (2013). PhD in Geology from the Federal University of Ceará (UFC) - Defense date: 11/27/2020. She currently works at the Regional University of Cariri as a visiting researcher. She has experience in the area of Paleontology, working mainly on the following topics: Characterization of Paleomaterials, Paleoecology, Decapods, Fossil Shrimps, Fossil Preparation, Araripe Basin.

João Hermínio da Silva, Universidade Federal do Cariri

He holds a degree in Mathematics from the State University of Ceará, a Master's degree in Energy and Nuclear Technologies from the Federal University of Pernambuco and a PhD in Physics from the Federal University of Ceará. He is currently a professor at the Federal University of Cariri - UFCA and is part of the faculty of the National Professional Master's Degree in Physics Teaching and the Multicentric Graduate Program in the area of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (PMBqBM) - UFCA, beginning of 2020. area of Raman spectroscopy with organic and inorganic materials. He has experience in Physics with an emphasis on Prop. Optics and Spectroscopy. of Mat. Condens; Other Inter. of Mat. with Rad. and Part., working mainly on the following topics: Raman and Infrared Spectroscopy, study of materials subjected to high temperatures and high pressures, study of vibrational properties of amino acid crystals, growth and characterization of amino acid crystals, Physics Teaching, Application of radioisotopes, Physics and Microbiology, Physics Applied to Paleontology and Archeology.
