Migraine affects about 15% of the Brazilian population, with 11% of individuals reporting a transient form of the disease, with symptoms relieved within 48 hours. Several theories have been proposed to explain its cause, including the involvement of the V pair of cranial nerves, as well as neurogenic and vascular alterations. Among the techniques used to treat pain and inflammation, cupping stands out, an ancient practice originating in Asia, improved by China. This technique involves the application of glass, acrylic or silicone cups on the skin, which can be dry or wet, in acupuncture points, painful areas and trigger points. With the aim of analyzing the effectiveness of cupping therapy as a complementary treatment for migraine, with a focus on reducing medication consumption, a systematic review was carried out. The research covered the VHL, PubMed and Science databases, the selection of articles took place in three stages: title, abstract and complete reading. The studies that supported the application of the technique were included in the analysis, and a PICO table (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome) and a PRISMA flowchart were created to justify the exclusions and facilitate data collection. Although there are few studies related to cupping in the treatment of migraine, the data obtained allow us to observe its effectiveness. Wet cupping or bloodletting stands out as one of the most promising techniques, and can be used by health professionals as a complementary tool in physiotherapy, with the aim of reducing the disability caused by the intense pain associated with this condition.
