Objective: The objective of this article is to present a study on how femur fractures can affect the elderly population in the state of Paraná. Methodology: A retrospective, descriptive study of direct source and quantitative nature was conducted based on the database of the Department of Informatics of the Brazilian Unified Health System (DATASUS), in which data such as the number of hospitalizations, average length of stay, mortality rate, and deaths from femur fractures in the elderly from January 2019 to January 2022 were analyzed. Conclusion: From the data analysis, it was confirmed that the majority of hospitalizations during this period were among elderly women; however, the average length of stay and the mortality rate were predominantly higher in men. Furthermore, it is possible to observe that despite the higher number of hospitalizations in women, mortality is predominantly higher in men.
