Chronic Apical Periodontitis is inflammation and destruction of apical periodontium resulting from irritants polymicrobial root canal system. There is evidence in the literature that associate diabetes type II with the highest prevalence of CAP, larger size of periapical lesions, greater likelihood of asymptomatic infections and periapical involvement in periapical healing. Dental pulp diabetes patients tend to have impaired collateral circulation, impaired immune response, increased risk of infection, and occasional tendency to pulp necrosis caused by ischemia. This study aims to contribute to the further clarification of the relationship between the metabolic control of patients and chronic periapical infection. Thus, we sought to review the relationship between Chronic apical periodontitis and diabetes type II and analyze the microbiological prevalence in endodontic infections. The literature reviewed points to a relationship between the transverse susceptibility Chronic apical periodontitis and diabetes type II which increases the rate of failure in response to endodontic treatment.
