Malaria is a febrile infectious disease whose vector is the female Anopheles mosquito (nail mosquito) infected by a protozoan, Plasmodium. In Brazil, about 99% of cases are concentrated in the Amazon region, considered an endemic area of the country. Cases identified in the extra-Amazonian region are considered to be immediately notifiable disease. The objective of this work is to analyze the epidemiological profile of malaria in the Northeast region. The methodology used was an ecological epidemiological approach, with data obtained from the Notifiable Diseases Information System (SINAN), available at the Department of Informatics of the Ministry of Health (DATASUS). In the Northeast region, the state with the most reported cases of malaria was Bahia (28.4%), followed by Piauí (20.2%), during the period between the years 2015-2021. The year 2018 represented the period with the highest number of cases, with a total of 152 notifications, on the other hand, the year 2021 exposed the lowest number of confirmed records, with only 9. Finally, the lack of control in the transmission chain of the disease, requiring better epidemiological surveillance, associated with a more effective application of public policies recommended by the National Malaria Control Plan (PNCM), and an incentive for more similar studies.
