The objective of this paper is to present a literature review to analyze the applicability of the Internet of Things in Dentistry today, discussing the advances predicted for the future, as well as exposing the benefits and obstacles of using IoT (Internet of Things) in the area. To this end, a search was conducted in the databases of the Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS), PubMed and IEEE Xplore, using descriptors in the search fields, such as "internet das coisas", "odontologia" and "saúde bucal". Most of the selected articles point out the advantages of the use of the Internet of Things in Dentistry on the quality of patient care, effectiveness of dental procedures, and improvement of techniques and teaching modalities within the field of Dentistry. Furthermore, the searches carried out suggest the implementation of IoT technology as an important factor in the more accurate comprehensive monitoring of patients. It is concluded that the applicability of the Internet of Things in dentistry is broad and necessary, since it represents an important resource in the promotion of integral oral health and in the construction of intelligent systems focused on developing the teaching-learning of the dental surgeon in formation.
