Internet de las Cosas en Odontología: ¿ha llegado el futuro?

Resumen

El objetivo de este artículo es presentar una revisión bibliográfica para analizar la aplicabilidad del Internet de las Cosas en Odontología en la actualidad, discutiendo los avances que se esperan para el futuro, así como exponer los beneficios y las barreras para el uso del IoT (Internet de las Cosas) en el área. Para ello, se realizó una búsqueda en las bases de datos de la Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS), PubMed e IEEE Xplore, utilizando descriptores en los campos de búsqueda, como "internet das coisas", "odontologia" y "saúde bucal". En su mayoría, todos los artículos seleccionados señalan las ventajas del uso del Internet de las Cosas en Odontología sobre la calidad de la atención al paciente, la eficacia de los procedimientos odontológicos y la mejora de las técnicas y modalidades de enseñanza dentro del campo de la Odontología. Además, las búsquedas realizadas, sugieren la implementación de la tecnología IoT como un factor importante para el seguimiento integral más preciso de los pacientes. Se concluye que la aplicabilidad del Internet de las Cosas en Odontología es amplia y necesaria, ya que representa un recurso importante en la promoción integral de la salud bucal y en la construcción de sistemas inteligentes enfocados a desarrollar la enseñanza-aprendizaje del cirujano dentista en formación.
