The present study qualitatively evaluated the extent to which psychotherapists respond according to social desirability when participating in research involving black patients in psychotherapy. The intention was to improve, through a pilot study, the instrument that will be used in subsequent quantitative research that intends to investigate, in a quasi-experimental situation, the attitudes of psychologists, whether explicit racist, microaggressive or neutral/assertive, in the face of situations of suffering from the experiences of racism narrated by patients in psychotherapy. An exploratory study was carried out, in which 25 psychologists participated, of which 19 completed the task, six withdrew from participating in the study and only seven included justifications for their answers. The instrument used consisted of clinical dilemmas presented in an electronic form, in which the participant was asked to evaluate the psychologist's behavior. The results indicate that there was a tendency to respond according to social desirability, but, even so, the instrument seemed to be able to understand the attitudes of psychotherapists.
